| THE START
Going to the fleamarket more often, I was very anoyed that people liked these kitschy cats, dogs, mice, birds and other terrible ceramics. "They are so sweet, funny and lovely." Later, I was presented on my birthday with a hotglue pistol, I decided to smash this this industrial, machinemade, overproduced kitschaesthetic and put the pieces together in a new way, creating a unique, manmade sculptur. The first creations were small, associative, in a more abstract fashion. The first lifesized figur was initiated as I used a found metal plate with two bars welded as a base. The pose was inspired from the David of Michelangelo. All male figurs are called David to remember the beginning. THE CONSTRUCTION On a welded frame of steel bars I construct a basic form with styrofoam and plaster. The bars and other metal I find in the streets. The styrofoam is recycled packaging. Over the basic form I glue the "skin" together, a mosaic of broken porcelain. Most of the ceramics I buy on the fleamarkets very inexpensively. Also the neighbors and interested fans bring me their colorful broken pieces. Sometimes, when needed in exchange for a complete part. One of the caracteristics of my work is the recyling principle. THE INFLUENCES The classic sculptures and mosaics (greek, roma, renaissance); the
arabic mosaics; Guiseppe Arcimboldi; cubism and surrealism; Antonio
Gaudi; Robert Delaunay; pop art; Edward Kienholz; Niki de Saint-Phalle;
